Changing Lives & Finding Lost Assets
Our Founder
Hi, I am Barry Gregory, and I am so glad you are here. Allow me to introduce myself. I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee ,where I grew up middle America all the way. My parents were from rural areas and met in the big city of Nashville. They later married and had me. My mom was a nurse and my dad worked for the federal government. I grew up going to church and school in the middle class suburbs of Nashville. I was very fortunate to be raised by Christian parents in a good Christian home. To their credit, for having sent me to a Christian preschool and kindergarten, I had memorized all 66 books of the Bible by the age of 5. I also became a believer at the age of 5, it is something that I am sure of to this day. I still remember the day and time it happened, even though I was so young.
Of course, I was still a kid and all I really wanted to do was play, not go to school so much. This led me to major in sports all the way through high school. I had dreams of be a professional football player, but my high school football coach kind of burst that bubble for me. I went on to college, even though I would not be playing football, at my mother’s urging (she filled out all the paper work). I really was still not interested in school even then. Once I got there I knew it would be a defining moment in my life. I had my first dose of the world and I was in shock. I knew I had to find some Christian fellowship, and I found and joined a Christian organization on campus. I worked in that organization all though college. I was vice-president my sophomore year, and served as president my junior and senior years. I attended a couple years of post graduate after graduating from college.
After college, I became involved in setting up retail businesses for a major retail company, and eventually became the regional director for a major manufacturer that covered the state of Florida. I also worked with a computer company , when personal computers were just coming out in ’82-’83, for about six months. I then, started a computer business of my own that I owned for about 16 years before selling it.
After that, I took some time to travel with my lovely wife and our two children. Upon returning, I got into real estate investing and expanded the business for the next several years. It is through this business that I realized a couple of things. One, is that behind each property is a person, and that person has a story whether good or bad. Some deserved to lose their property due to being involved in crime and such, but others did not need to lose their property. Here, began my search for the why and how this had happened. Why was it some people had seemed to slip through the cracks? This was another defining moment in my life that led the start of what is today Family Asset Service.
I began a process of research and tracing the money that allowed me to figure out where money was and who it belonged to as well. I was truly amazed at the magnitude of files and records of people with money that had been there for some 50 to 60 years; and all of it was sitting there waiting to be claimed if they some how only knew. So I began with a file and a phone call and the rest is history. The phone call lead to a visit, and sure enough, it was the person to whom the money belonged, and they were able to claim it! Wow! what an awesome privilege to have been a part of that moment!
I have been working at it ever since, adding volunteers along the way. Many times ,the volunteers are those we have helped that want to help others. There is something very special in helping someone else to receive a blessing.

What Drives Us
Our Mission
To be able to share God’s love with others by bringing a blessing to their life. This is only possible with God’s help. It is what allows us to be able to research and find assets belonging to those around us and get them recovered and restored to their rightful owner. This is why we never charge for what we do, as we want to be a blessing ,and show God’s love and caring for those we are able to help.
